"Cannot perform this operation."
I didn’t have any error until I updated my mac to El Capitan.
However, after I updated it, there were some errors as I said,
“Cannot perform this operation.”
And it made me to shut down Final Cut pro.
So I got a reset, downgraded, and reinstall,
but still, there are some errors when I put a new title.
Do you guys have similar problems like this?
Is this just a bug, or is this my mac’s problem?
It soooooo annoying:(
I’m repeating once more that I had not have any error like this until I upgraded.
Attempting to copy to the disk failed. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation
Hi!
I’ve been using an iPod classic (software 2.0.5) with iTunes version 12.3.1.23 on my Windows 10 machine and I have been syncing my iTunes Music/Podcasts/Etc. with the iPod flawlessly for a long time. Suddenly, I am unable to sync the iPod and iTunes correctly and receive error messages such as: “Attempting to copy to the disk failed. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation.” and “iTunes could not copy SONG because an unknown error occurred (-5000).”
I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes, restored my iPod, and gone into the Properties of the folders where I store music to un-check “READ ONLY”.
I welcome your expertise. Thank you, kindly, in advance.

Jonathan

Can’t drag folders from external hard drive –‘The operation can’t be completed because an item with the name "" already exists
I am trying to copy my itunes folder from: my mac air laptop > to hard drive > to new imac.
BUT – there are similar named files and instead of just ignoring / giving me options, the operation stops as soon as it finds a similar named file.
I have 60gig of music. I have tried ‘duplicate finding’ software, but it doesn’t work properly (similar named songs 7″ and 12″ versions come up as ‘same name’ etc)
It doesn’t occur just for music – but other folders, files, photos as well…
So the pop in says: ‘The operation can’t be completed because an item with the name ” ” already exists’
Any one know how to solve this one?
Partition and erase external hard disk failed–"operation failed"
I’ll just describe the problem that I had with my hard disk and how it occurred.
First I’ll show you the details of the hard disk:
– I got this hard disk( Sony 1TB 2.5″ External Hard Drive) nearly a year ago. And only used it on two of my macpros to back up the datas and files.
– Recently I tried to let someone copy a video for me from his PC, but he said that his PC couldn’t read my hard disk. Then I came to realise that the disk wasn’t setup for both system(mac and windows).
– The person didn’t know what was the problem also so he let some else to fix my hard disk on windows and obviously it didn’t work.
– I asked it back today and try to erase it to MS-DOS (FAT) on my (early 2015) mac pro(OS X El Capitan 10.11.1), but it says erase process has failed.
– Then I searched online and followed one of the video which says go to the partition and format it to MS-DOS FAT, then go to erase and do the same thing as described above. However, it didn’t work as well and shows “operation failed”
I’m wondering Is this problem caused by the operation on the PC? I don’t know what exactly the guy has done because I wasn’t there. Or maybe the hard disk is damaged that I have to restore it. Anyone here could help me?
Play/Pause button operation

Auto- Brightness Operation
I have a Snugg Silicone cover for my iPad Air 2. When I put it on my iPad and the “Auto-Brightness” control is in auto, the screen goes to minimum brightness. To return the screen to normal viewing levels, I must put the control in manual to adjust it. I guess I do not understand how the brightness sensor works. It seems to me that if you cover the sensor with something that opaque the result should be the opposite of what I experience. The Snugg sleeve is black so it should block any light from reaching the sensor if it is positioned over it. Can someone explain how the iPad sensor works and where it is located. I have been able to find very little information on how it operates.
"The Operation Could Not Be Completed?"
Okay, now is NOT the time of the year for iMovie to become Impertinent. I have used it for years. Made a movie a few days ago, no problems. Today, I’ trying to create a new movie and the error message I got was “The Operation Could Not Be Completed. No other information is available about the problem.” Really? Same thing happens when trying to create a trailor!
I am using an iMac (late 2012); Version 10.10.5. 8 GB Memory, 1600 MHz DOR3
iMovie is 10.1
Guess I’ll try to go back to Time Machine – not that I think it will help the application, but, I’ll give it a whirl. Then, it may be a total new re-install which makes me nervous. YIKES!
I worked for Apple for 10 years and have used a Mac since 1986, so I’m not a novice. Just frustrated ’cause sometimes the changes just aren’t good! (And, I miss the wrapping feature in the movie timeline. Of course, it might be there, but, certainly is hidden as far as I can see).
Alright, done venting. BUT, if anyone has an easy solution, I’d LOVE to hear from you!

Can’t delete corrupt file in trash. "The operation can’t be completed because the item ‘my file’ is in use
iMac OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)
I don’t have a lot of free storage space left on my computer (only 9GB), so I started copying files from FCPX on my computer’s hard drive to a library on my external hard drive. During the transfer FCP quit, and now I can’t open up the library on my external hard drive because one of the files I was transferring is corrupt. I tried to erase the file in my trash, but the following message continues to pop up: “The operation can’t be completed because the item ‘my file’ is in use.”
I tried emptying the trash securely, but this only made the following message appear: “The Finder can’t complete the operation because some date in ‘my file’ can’t be read or written.”
I also tried deleting my trash through terminal but nothing seems to happen.
While using my iPad it goes blank screen for no reason and it takes several minutes before it returns to operation. I don’ t understand this?

Apple Please Fix Already! The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have the necessary permission
Since the upgrade from Mountain Lion my NAS (Seagate Personal Cloud) has not been accessible in finder, there is no a ? instead. I have been able to work around this problem by setting up the Seagate app and losing on from there. However, once I do I can read but not write. Actually, I can add files but not delete. I can change names of folders but not add a color to it.
I have searched and searched, I have tried for countless hours to work around it. Used terminal, searched in permissions on Mac, it’s not in “more info” in finder, disk utility did not help…!
This is a huge pain and essentially rending my wireless drive useless to me. I spent $500 on it and now Apple decided to have me update my OS and now I can’t use it. Ridiculous.

Hello all,
I’m trying to delete some old Time Machine back ups on an external hard drive. I did this by going to finder and doing it manually, instead of doing it through Time Machine. I get the error in the title. I’m also trying to delete a Steam Library folder off of my external hard drive, and get the error listed in the title. My permissions ARE set to Read & Write, so I’m not sure how I can do this. I have a Western Digital My Passport Ultra external hard drive.
Thanks for the help!
